About this opportunity:

At RAN Baseband System Management our main task is to describe and specify the wanted behaviour of advanced features for the Radio Networks.

We are growing our investments to support 5G and 6G deployments across the globe and as part of this we are looking for an experienced Radio Network System Developer that will join our RAN Baseband System Management team in Stockholm, Sweden.

In our team we work with signal processing, radio resource management, physical layer algorithms, multi-antenna systems, cloud deployments, development of 5G/6G software simulations, supporting the deployment of our 5G products in live networks, and much, much more!

The right candidate could also further strengthen our competence in and use of modern software development methodologies and environments for our simulators. The ambition would here be to provide improved IT execution environment life cycle management. Furthermore, the role would include providing hands-on code development experience to ensure a modern modular software design and full utilization of recent development within computer science such as GPU acceleration, game engines, cloud-based execution, etc.

 

What you will do:

• Perform systems studies primarily in Radio Resource Management, e.g. Scheduling, Link Adaptation, time critical communication, and control channel radio resource management.

• Specify system features and functions, test cases, algorithms, use cases, parameter settings and address any interactions with legacy features and functionality.

• Drive continuous improvements of products, simulation tools and processes (feature flow).

• Develop network-level software simulations for the performance analysis of 5G/6G features and algorithms.

• Track, apply, and share, best practice and state-of-the-art development insights from the IT domain with our projects. This includes following relevant trends and developments in IT industry and academia.

• Contribute hands on to setting up code development and execution environments as well as to selected code development activities within our software communities and projects.

• Together with project managers life cycle manage (plan, setup, maintain, terminate) adequate IT environments for projects’ use.

 

The skills you bring:

• Bachelors or Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or the equivalent level of knowledge.

• Background in communications theory and digital signal processing

• Work experience in relevant areas such as 5G NR and possibly 6G

• An analytical approach with an interest in creativity and innovation

• Dedication, self-drive and a strong interest in cooperating with others

• An interest to learn and grow your skills continuously being a part of our team

• Good knowledge of 5G NR mobile communication systems, especially in the areas of the Physical Layer and Radio Resource Management

• Product development knowledge preferably with an understanding of Lean and Agile methods

• Software development skills to strengthen product understanding and give an ability to use and develop simulators. Languages include Java, C, C++ and Python. 

• Experiences of software development in teams in Linux or Windows environments.

• Proficiency with setting up and using modern IDEs, such as Eclipse, and VS Code.

• Understanding of common Linux or Windows development tools, such as GIT, GITLab, and Jenkins.

• Understanding of cloud infrastructure and virtualization.

• Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English building positive relationships internally as well as externally.
